Call it a palate cleanser, if you will, from all this political nonsense.
Instead I bring you: Bad Poetry! Now, with 42% rhyming and over 2 metaphors per stanza.
-----------
Go on, you weary traveler, go
These destinations are not home
Though you felt their welcome time upon time
And knew the world, each piece and place
From spaces ever open, spanning widths
Through narrow lanes thickly woven green
Across land seeming swallowed whole
By sand or snow or grass or man
In every one your story told the more
In every face another chapter's friend
Each time your self created new
Each place your world begins again
So steps trace backward whence they came
And parcels laid beside the door
Return feels like a lost embrace
The familiar is soft breath once more
Til dreaming beckons suitcased step
Wheels turn onward winding past
Signs marking curve and mile of road
And travel's end is reached at last
But miles must end, they cannot last
Forever mapping leaves its mark
Time is pressing down and down
Sun crosses sky into the dark
Go on, you weary traveler, go
We all of us are traveling still
On ever spinning globe set sail
Until our final journey's end
