God the octopus

Spent a ridiculously beautiful Sunday at the zoo with Julia and Uncle Kevin and Miss Liz, later joined by Daddy.

While sitting at a table, having a snack, Julia wondered, "Does God control all the people?"

Me: "You mean, like does He make them do what He wants?"

Julia: "Yes."

Me: Attempt to deliver nuanced discussion of free will vs. determinism, interpreted for a 5-year-old.

Julia, ignoring me: "I think He must have lots of arms to control everybody."
